This course is for students preparing for the AP Physics exam in May. It is an introductory college-level physics course based on algebraic skills. It covers topics such as: systems, fields, force interactions, change, conservation, and waves through inquiry-based learning techniques.
- Core Physics Concepts: The course covers essential physics concepts including:
- Learning about wave characteristics, propagation, sound, and light waves
- Exploring gravitational, electric, and magnetic fields
- Investigating change through kinematics, dynamics, work, and energy
- Studying force interactions, including Newton’s laws and free-body diagrams
- Understanding and analyzing systems
- Understanding conservation of momentum and energy, and exploring collisions
- Scientific Skills: Emphasis is placed on developing skills to conduct experiments, analyze data, and understand physical processes through inquiry-based learning techniques.
- Preparation for Advanced Physics: The curriculum is meticulously structured to prepare students for more complex topics in physics and to support academic success in future science courses.

Topic 1 – Systems
- Definition and identification of physical systems; Analyzing interactions within systems.

Topic 2 – Fields
- Gravitational fields; Electric fields; Magnetic fields; Field interactions and applications.

Topic 3 – Force Interactions
- Newton’s laws of motion; Free-body diagrams; Friction, tension, and normal forces; Centripetal force and circular motion.

Topic 4 – Change
- Kinematics: motion in one and two dimensions; Dynamics of particles and rigid bodies; Work, energy, and power.

Topic 5 – Conservation
- Conservation of momentum; Conservation of energy; Elastic and inelastic collisions; Conservation laws in closed and open systems.

Topic 6 – Waves
- Characteristics of waves; Wave propagation and speed; Sound waves and light waves; Superposition and interference; Doppler effect.
Each topic includes engaging lectures, plenty of practice problems, group activities, and a quiz to test your understanding. Homework assignments will reinforce what we learn in class, and I’ll be available to provide extra help whenever you need it.
